A Cool Roof System refers to the use of any roofing technology system which provides natural heat insulation properties. There are two factors involved in Cool Roof technologies – reflection and insulation. A roof can be engineered to minimize heat transfer by using reflective surface materials, or by using insulating material under the surface layer, or both. Cool Roof technologies which combine protection against both of these kinds of heat transfer can reduce the surface
temperature of a large and expansive roof by as much as 100 degrees Fahrenheit! Cool Roof systems may be either sprayed on or rolled on, depending on the technology chosen. Reducing the surface temperature of the roof reduces the load on your cooling system, minimizes peal electrical loads, and provides heat transfer characteristics to your building which can far surpass minimal requirements.
Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) is a light colored reflective coating that adheres to most existing roofs.
Single-ply membranes are installed after first pre-treating rusty steel and treating leak-prone fasters and seams.
MDM Roofing offers other Conklin coating products engineered for specific roofing types.
